Hyundai Glovis maritime and logistics expansion
Overview
Hyundai Glovis is advancing its logistics and maritime capabilities through strategic partnerships in the United States.
In early October, the company entered a Memorandum of Understanding with Liberty Global Logistics to study the feasibility of using Small Modular Reactors (SMR) to power Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC). This collaboration aims to analyze the commercial operation of SMR-powered vessels on routes between South Korea and the United States, focusing on carbon emission reduction and increased cargo efficiency.
Later in the month, Hyundai Glovis announced plans to expand its presence at the Port of Philadelphia. Through an agreement with the Philadelphia Port Authority and local developers, the company intends to secure dedicated berths for automobile carriers and expand its finished vehicle terminal operations. This expansion is expected to increase its local logistics space to approximately 1.1 million square meters and raise vehicle storage capacity to 37,600 units.
