Žiga Šeško junior tennis career progression

Overview

Slovenian tennis player Žiga Šeško made history by becoming the first Slovenian to qualify for the World Tennis Tour Junior Finals in Chengdu, China. Prior to the tournament, the 18-year-old reached the semifinals of an M15 professional tournament in Pontevedra, Spain.

Competing in Chengdu from October 21 to 25, 2026, Šeško completed the group stage with a 3-0 record, finishing first in Group A after defeating Yannik Alvarez of Puerto Rico 6-4, 7-6 (3). This performance secured his advancement to the semifinals.

In his final appearance in junior competition, Šeško finished as the runner-up. In the final match, he fell to American Jordan Lee with a score of 6-3, 7-5. Although Šeško had previously defeated Lee in a three-set match during the group stages, Lee secured the title in the final, winning 81 percent of his first-serve points compared to Šeško’s 64 percent. This tournament concludes a successful junior career that included an Australian Open Grand Slam title earlier in the year.
