IIT Madras is organizing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. The examination is scheduled as a computer-based test to be held over three weekends in February 2027: February 6–7, February 13–14, and February 20–21. The exam will cover 30 papers, including a newly introduced Robotics and Automation paper. Significant syllabus revisions have been implemented, including changes to Civil Engineering and the merging of Textile Engineering and Fibre Science into the Engineering Sciences section. Following initial reports of a postponement, IIT Madras confirmed that the online application process via the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) officially opened at 7:00 PM on September 2, 2026. For Indian nationals, registration through DigiLocker is mandatory, and mandatory.
