Illegal slot machine ring investigation in Trenton
Overview
Authorities in Trenton, New Jersey, dismantled an illegal slot machine ring operating across more than 30 businesses through a coordinated effort known as ‘Operation Jackpot’. The investigation, which involved the Trenton Police, New Jersey State Police, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, followed an 11-month probe triggered by a citizen tip in November 2025 and a dispute regarding an unredeemed voucher.
During the operation, law enforcement seized 73 slot machines, an ATM, various receipts, and over $100,000 in cash. Harry Almonte, a 33-year-old man from Philadelphia, has been charged with second-degree money laundering and third-degree offenses, including maintaining a gambling resort and promoting gambling. Business owners hosting the unauthorized machines also face charges for possessing gambling devices and maintaining a gambling resort. Almonte is currently held by the Philadelphia Police Department pending an extradition hearing.
