Immutep immunotherapy development and funding
Overview
Immutep is undergoing strategic and financial developments regarding its immunotherapy candidates, efti and IMP761. The company has refocused the development of eftilagimod alpha (efti) toward first-line head and neck cancer patients and the neoadjuvant treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. This shift follows a root cause analysis of the TACTI-004 trial, which identified structural differences in the manufactured product’s N-glycan structure. Immutep has initiated a new 200-litre manufacturing run and expects to return efti to clinical development in the second half of 2027.
In support of its research, Immutep received an A$0.86 million cash rebate from the Australian Federal Government’s R&D tax incentive program for expenditures incurred during the 2025 fiscal year. The company is also utilizing tax incentives in France and Germany through its subsidiaries. Immutep intends to use this non-dilutive funding to advance its product candidates, with an expected cash reach extending into the first half of CY2028.
