Inaugural Martín Fierro de la Música awards held
Overview
The inaugural Martín Fierro de la Música awards, organized by the Association of Television and Radio Journalists of Argentina (APTRA), were held at the Tango Porteño theater in Buenos Aires. Hosted by Hernán Drago and Edith Hermida, the ceremony featured 26 categories covering genres such as pop, urban, tango, and folklore.
Abel Pintos emerged as the primary winner, securing the ‘Martín Fierro de Oro’ in addition to being named Best Male Artist. María Becerra achieved significant success, winning Best Female Artist, Best Album of the Year for ‘Quimera’, and Best Live Show/Platform for her ‘Quimera Show 360°’ at River.
Other notable winners included Lali Espósito for Best Pop Artist, L-Gante for Best Urban Artist, and Turf for Best Band. Special career recognition (Trayectoria) was awarded to Charly García, Carlos ‘La Mona’ Jiménez, Chaqueño Palavecino, Palito Ortega, and Raúl Lavié. Charly García was also granted a unique ‘Leyenda de leyendas’ distinction, while the duo Pimpinela was awarded the Martín Fierro de Platino.
Leading up to the event, APTRA faced a legal dispute with journalist Marcelo Polino. Following Polino’s request for an investigation into alleged irregularities, APTRA submitted a 17-page response to the General Inspection of Justice (IGJ), labeling the complaint “malintencionada” (ill-intentioned).
Following the music awards, APTRA announced the nominees for the 2025 Martín Fierro Federal awards, which recognize regional media excellence. The ceremony is scheduled for October 31 in Potrero de los Funes, San Luis province.
