Dubrovnik and the Municipality of Župa Dubrovačka are set to host the inaugural World Aquatics Water Polo 4x4 Open Championships from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The tournament utilizes a new, dynamic format designed for increased spectator engagement. Competitions will take place in the Old City Port of ~~Dubrovnik and~~ Dubrovnik—a UNESCO-protected site—and at the Gusar Water Polo Club pool in Mlini. The event is expected to feature 26 national ~~teams—comprising~~ teams, comprising 18 men’s and 8 women’s ~~teams—alongside~~ teams, alongside approximately 15 veteran teams from five continents. ~~Preparations are~~ To support the event, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County has signed a donation agreement of 50,000 euros.
