India anti‑drug campaign rollout – launch Aug 2026

Entities: Viksit Bharat 2047 · Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (India) · Narendra Modi · National Service Scheme · MY Bharat

Overview

Punjab’s anti‑drug operation “Yudh Nashian Virudh” has now reached 510 days, with intensified raids, large‑scale searches and community outreach that includes women supporting families of addicts. Building on the state effort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the nationwide 100‑week “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” on 2 August 2026. The launch took place simultaneously at roughly 10,000 locations, where more than ten million young people pledged to stay drug‑free.

The campaign mobilises MY Bharat volunteers, the National Service Scheme, youth clubs, schools, colleges, NGOs, industrial associations and over 125 spiritual organisations. Every Sunday for the next 100 weeks activities such as walk‑athons, sports events, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, art competitions and street‑plays will be organised. Outstanding volunteers will be recognised at the 50th, 75th and 100th‑week milestones. The initiative is framed as part of the broader vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and the target of a developed India by 2047.
