In early July 2026, India's government launched a Viability Gap Funding (VGF) programme allocating ₹3,760 crore to support 13,220 MWh of large‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The scheme, designed to bridge the cost gap for projects essential to grid reliability and renewable integration, complements broader storage targets that foresee more than 60 GW of capacity by 2029‑30.

Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. reported a 66 % jump in quarterly revenue and strong profit growth, citing rising demand for integrated clean‑energy solutions. Concurrently, state utility SJVN issued a request for proposals to develop a 265 MW/530 MWh standalone BESS in Haryana under the same VGF framework, with bids due in August.
