India Central Vigilance Commission administrative updates

India’s Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has implemented new administrative frameworks and digital tools to modernize its oversight processes.

In early August 2026, the CVC issued two master circulars to consolidate and update guidelines for vigilance administration and disciplinary actions. These directives apply to public sector banks, insurance companies, and financial institutions. The circulars establish a single reference framework, define the “vigilance angle” for misconduct, mandate Internal Advisory Committees, and set model timelines for investigations to reduce delays and ensure uniform processing.

Following these regulatory updates, the CVC launched the Vigilance Status Portal. This digital platform is designed to digitize the submission and processing of vigilance clearances from various Indian ministries and departments. The initiative aims to increase transparency and efficiency through real-time tracking, and the CVC has mandated that all applications be uploaded via the portal, stating that physical or email submissions will no longer be accepted.
