The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reshuffled the Indian men's cricket team's team’s coaching staff, naming Shubhadeep (Subhadeep) Subhadeep (Shubhadeep) Ghosh as the new fielding coach, replacing T. Dilip after criticism of the side’s fielding in recent series. Ghosh succeeding T Dilip. Ghosh, 57, brings experience from the National Cricket Academy, the Centre of Excellence, and previous coaching roles stints with the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, the Indian women's team, women’s side, India A, A and Assam’s senior side. His team, and most recently as the women’s fielding coach. Dilip, who had been in charge since November 2021 and oversaw two T20 World Cup titles and an ICC Champions Trophy, left after his contract was not renewed following the 2024‑25 Border‑Gavaskar series. The change coincides with assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate’s move to the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. Captain Rohit Sharma publicly praised Dilip as a “legend” and “workhorse”. Ghosh’s first assignment will be the two‑Test series against Sri Lanka in August 2026, with matches scheduled in Galle and Colombo, preceded by a three‑day practice match in Colombo. Colombo from 7 August, the first Test in Galle on 15 August and the second in Colombo on 23 August. The appointment reflects BCCI’s effort drive to improve athleticism and technical standards in raise fielding standards ahead of upcoming international fixtures and the 2024‑25 ICC events.
