On August 28, 2026, the Indian Army signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for the acquisition, valued at approximately $93 million. The package is expected to include up to 100 missiles, 25 reusable command launch units, simulation equipment, training aids, and lifecycle support.

U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor described the agreement as a significant milestone that strengthens bilateral defense relations. Beyond the immediate purchase, both nations are engaged in discussions regarding the potential for joint manufacturing and co-production of the Javelin system within India. The Javelin, produced by a joint venture between RTX and Lockheed Martin, is a medium-range, fire-and-forget weapon designed to engage armored vehicles and fortified positions using a top-attack profile. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of the 2026-27 period.
