India Narcotics Control Bureau enforcement efforts
Overview
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has initiated efforts to strengthen both domestic and international anti-drug operations.
Domestically, the agency scheduled quarterly Joint Coordination Committee meetings across Bihar, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, and Mizoram. These meetings are designed to improve intelligence sharing and coordination between central and state agencies, focusing on dismantling drug networks, targeting kingpins, and implementing the PIT-NDPS law.
On an international level, the NCB hosted fifty officers from 21 countries at its Ahmedabad facility as part of an Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme. Organized by Rashtriya Raksha University, the training focused on investigation, prosecution, and the exchange of best practices to bolster global cooperation against drug trafficking.
