The Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka continues to address discrepancies and unmapped records. As of late September, the state’s electoral roll included 4,48,44,080 electors. Following recent revisions and notice processes, the total voter count has risen to 44,981,740, an increase of 137,660. Female voters currently outnumber males, with 22,660,092 women compared to 2,23,18,784 men. The revision process has become a flashpoint for political conflict. On October 1, Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumaran issued directives to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to take legal action against individuals prosecute those submitting fraudulent Form 7 applications, following allegations that the form is being misused to illicitly remove names from the registry.
