Indian law enforcement agencies have conducted multiple operations targeting drug trafficking networks through both financial crackdowns and direct narcotics seizures. In early August, police in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh focused on dismantling the financial infrastructure of traffickers. In Shimla, authorities froze assets valued at approximately Rs 2.09 crore following the arrest of Deepak Kumar, an alleged key operator of a heroin transport network. In late August, security forces in Manipur recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 27 crore and 48 kg of suspected opium in Senapati District. In Assam, the Special Task Force (STF) arrested three traffickers in Guwahati, seizing 397 grams of suspected heroin, and arrested Fazal Islam Barbhuiyan, an alleged operative of the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN). Recent operations have seen massive seizures under ‘Operation Vajra 2.0’, where the Central Bureau of Narcotics intercepted a truck containing over 6.6 million psychotropic tablets. In late August and early September, Mizoram Police conducted raids resulting in the Assam Rifles continued targeting trans-border smuggling.
