Indian police gang encounters

In early July, Gurugram police clashed with members of the Deepak Nandal gang, killing four suspects and sustaining injuries to three officers. Later that month, Delhi’s Rohini district police engaged two alleged members of the rival Tillu Tajpuria gang, wounding both suspects and recovering firearms and a stolen motorcycle.

On 1 August 2026, after a murder of a man named Harish, officers set a trap near the UER Highway in Rohini. When the Tillu gang members Rahul and Vishal opened fire, two officers were hit but unharmed thanks to bullet‑proof vests. The suspects were shot in the legs, subdued, and taken to hospital. Police recovered two pistols, live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle, and noted the suspects’ prior criminal records.

The next day, 2 August 2026, the Rohini Special Staff team again confronted Rahul and Vishal at the same location, repeating the leg‑shot arrests and seizure of weapons. The operations are part of a sustained crackdown on the Tillu gang, which remains locked in a violent rivalry with the Gogi gang, underscoring an ongoing, armed law‑enforcement push against organized crime across multiple Indian cities.
