Indigenous cultural festivals in Pingtung County
Overview
Pingtung County is hosting various Indigenous cultural and music festivals to promote regional industry, talent, and cultural exchange.
In late September, preparations were highlighted for the 2026 Festival on the Slope, scheduled for October 3–4 at the Lin Hou Si Lin Flat Forest Park in Chaozhou Township. The event features a band competition and the inaugural ‘Festival on the Slope Life Design Award,’ which showcases products integrating Indigenous culture with modern design. The festival also includes a specialty market with over 109 stalls.
Concurrently, the 185 County Road Music Festival was held in the Wulariuzi Tribe of Taiwu Township. This event featured the ‘Yanshan Singing Contest’ finals, won by Yu Tian-yu, and the ‘Yanshan 185 Ma-le-fa Market,’ which showcased 30 local brands. The Pingtung County Indigenous Affairs Department noted that such festivals aim to use music to connect generations and boost local economic development.
