In late July, local officials in Central Java urged residents to verify information and curb the spread of hoaxes, linking misinformation prevention to broader community cooperation. Deputy Regent Sahid of Magelang called for responsible news sharing, while a joint clean‑up in Sukoharjo highlighted the role of the armed forces in fostering civic engagement and public hygiene.

A few days later, the national Coordinating Minister for Political and Security visited South Kalimantan to push a more coordinated response. He advocated the creation of a dedicated body involving local administrations, the military, police and other stakeholders to monitor and counter digital hoaxes. The Ministry of Communication and Digital reported detecting nearly 1,900 hoax items in the past year and urged citizens to apply simple verification steps, emphasizing the need for early, unified action across all levels of government.
