In late July 2026, vape maker Tazelab cut ties with livestreamer Muhammad Jannah (“Bigmo”) after a broadcast showed children naming a vape liquid. On 31 July, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kominfo) sent a first‑warning letter to YouTube, ordering removal of the livestream, stronger proactive moderation and upgraded age‑verification within three days, warning of possible fines or service suspension. DPR members Adang Daradjatun and Ahmad Sahroni backed a police probe and supported President Prabowo’s proposal for a total vape ban. The Child Protection Commission (KPAI) also demanded decisive action against Bigmo.

Kominfo reiterated the same three‑day deadline on 2 August, emphasizing that non‑compliance could trigger administrative sanctions.

On 4 August, the Ministry of Health called for tighter safeguards to prevent children’s exposure to tobacco and e‑cigarette promotion, citing Article 151 of Law No. 17/2023 and the 2024 regulation banning marketing to minors. Police said they would summon the creator for questioning, while Minister Meutya Hafid announced the ministry would formally summon YouTube following the warning. Authorities urged parents, educators and platforms to create safe online spaces, warning of the health risks of vaping.
