Indonesia creative economy development
Overview
Indonesia is utilizing large-scale events to promote its national creative economy. In August 2026, the Ministry of Creative Economy announced that Jakarta would host the FIA Rallycross World Cup in December. Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya described the event as a strategic driver for the automotive modification subsector and the broader creative ecosystem, aiming to involve 21 different subsectors including fashion, culinary arts, and digital content.
Following this, the IdeaFest 2026 festival in Jakarta further showcased the country’s creative and strategic sectors. Held at the Jakarta International Convention Center, the event focused on the theme ‘Re:Humanize,’ emphasizing the essential role of human creativity and empathy amid rapid artificial intelligence development. The festival featured over 500 speakers across 160 sessions covering business, technology, and culture.
Major corporate participants integrated sustainability and digital services into the festival. Pertamina promoted its Dual Growth Strategy for energy transition, while Indofood partnered with Rekosistem to implement circular economy waste management. BNI served as the official banking partner through its ‘wondr’ platform to support digital transactions. Additionally, Padang Mayor Fadly Amran highlighted Indonesia’s culinary diplomacy through a mission to secure UNESCO Gastronomy City status for Padang.
