Indonesia e‑signature digital government

Overview

In late July 2026 Indonesian businesses were highlighted as early adopters of electronic‑signature solutions such as ezSign, using the technology to speed up document approval, cut printing costs and reduce fraud risk. A week later the government announced a rollout of the same e‑signature platforms across ministries, linking them to the national population database (Dukcapil) and committing roughly Rp 3.5 trillion to expand data storage, bandwidth, cybersecurity and backup infrastructure.

By the end of 2025 Dukcapil reported that 2,283 institutions were actively using its digital population data—well above the 1,300‑institution target—and that cumulative access had reached 18.94 billion hits across 7,419 institutions. Electronic ID coverage rose to 97.47 % of the population (206.46 million people), with near‑universal coverage of birth and death certificates and substantial uptake of child and marriage records. The same Rp 3.5 trillion investment is being used to add data‑center capacity, biometric servers and enhanced cybersecurity, while private platforms like ezSign continue to promote electronic signatures to further digitise government administration.
