Indonesia independence anniversary diplomatic celebrations

Indonesia has held various diplomatic receptions to commemorate its 81st independence anniversary, focusing on bilateral cooperation and cultural exchange.

In Switzerland, the Indonesian Embassy in Bern marked both the independence anniversary and 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Switzerland. Ambassador Ngurah Swajaya emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and multilateralism. Swiss State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation, Martina Hirayama, expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation in education, research, and innovation by leveraging Indonesia’s human resource potential. Discussions also highlighted recent agreements on downstreaming cooperation.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Indonesian Embassy in Sarajevo hosted a Cultural Night and reception. Ambassador Manahan M. P. Sitompul highlighted the three decades of mutual respect between the two nations and noted that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia remains committed to an active international role focused on peace, cooperation, and economic resilience.

In Kenya, Ambassador Tyas Baskoro H.E. Witjaksono Adji hosted a reception in Nairobi attended by Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale. Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and technology transfer, specifically regarding a partnership between the Kenya Biovax Institute and Indonesia’s Bio Farma to bolster vaccine production.

In Italy, the Indonesian Embassy held a reception in Rome themed ‘From North Sumatera to Venezia: A Journey of Friendship.’ Attended by Italian Deputy Minister Valentino Valentini and Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, the event promoted Indonesian soft power and emphasized the strategic strength of maritime and cultural connections between the two nations.
