Indonesia Koperasi Merah Putih rollout

In late July 2026 the Koperasi Merah Putih cooperative programme showed contrasting progress across Indonesia. On 27 July, the Kendal district in Central Java highlighted a digital overhaul: cooperatives began using the SIMKOPDES management system and a mobile app that unify savings, loans, logistics and member data, a move praised by the regent and district officials as essential for transparency and poverty reduction.

The following day, attention shifted to East Java, where the same cooperative network faced operational setbacks. A partially built headquarters in the remote village of Ngrejeng, Tuban, drew criticism, and several officials in nearby Pacitan resigned, pointing to deeper governance and implementation problems. Regional leaders called for stronger involvement of elected cooperative managers and for the central government and PT Agrinas to grant real authority to local leaders. Meetings among local authorities, the private partner and government representatives were reported as ongoing to resolve these issues.
