Indonesia’s Garuda Bridge program, an initiative launched by President Prabowo Subianto to connect isolated rural communities, has progressed from a mid-target implementation phase to full completion of its primary infrastructure goals. By mid-August 2026, President Prabowo officially inaugurated a total of 3,395 bridges and 3,000 clean water sources. These projects were achieved through collaboration between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri). Under the ‘Merah Putih Presisi’ program, the National Police independently built or revitalized 895 bridges spanning 19.2 kilometers, connecting 1,314 villages and benefiting approximately 2 million people. The TNI Army contributed significantly to the establishment of the 3,000 clean water sources to support national water security, having also constructed bridges at 3,008 points over the previous seven months. The President noted that these achievements demonstrate that the military and police serve as ‘people’s institutions’ dedicated to supporting remote and disaster-affected areas. In addition to infrastructure, the President has expanded his focus on energy transition and economic stability. Following the launch of the National Electric Motorcycle Ecosystem (MOLINAS) at the PT Ilectra Motor Group facility, President Prabowo proposed financing schemes such as lower interest rates and zero-down-payment options to drive adoption. To further reduce dependence on imported fuel, he ordered PLN to phase out 13 GW of diesel power plants in favor of solar energy. These efforts coincide with the implementation of the B50 biofuel policy, which has reportedly saved approximately Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange reserves. ~~Beyond energy,~~ Parallel to these energy goals, the ~~President reported achieving food self-sufficiency in eight commodities and outlined plans for modernizing~~ administration is undertaking a massive restructuring of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), aiming to reduce the ~~fishing fleet and expanding village cooperatives.~~ total number from 1,074 to 300 by the end of 2026.
