Indonesia scholarship and youth exchange

In late July 2026 Indonesia broadened its international student mobility by enrolling 90 students in the EU‑funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme and launching a four‑month community‑impact mobilisation for 16,000 university students. The EU scholarships were presented as part of the Global Gateway strategy to deepen Indonesia‑EU cooperation in innovation, green and digital transformation.

A few weeks later, in early August, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted another pillar of its outreach by hosting the 22nd Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (BSBI/IACS). The programme brought together 12 young participants from across ASEAN for a 45‑day cultural immersion, underscoring Indonesia’s use of arts and education to strengthen regional people‑to‑people ties.

Together, the two initiatives illustrate Indonesia’s expanding focus on both academic and cultural exchange programmes, leveraging partnerships with the EU and ASEAN to develop youth talent, foster mutual understanding, and support broader development goals.
