Indonesia Stock Exchange market development
Overview
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has introduced several strategic initiatives aimed at expanding market scale and improving liquidity.
In early August 2026, the BEI announced a target to increase its number of listed companies to 1,100 by 2030. OJK market-supervision chief Hasan Fawzi stated this goal could position Indonesia among the top ten global exchanges by market capitalisation. During this period, the exchange also reshuffled its flagship LQ45 blue-chip index to better align with market liquidity and fundamentals.
Following these developments, the BEI announced plans to remove the Rp50 minimum stock price limit. This policy change, which could allow shares to trade as low as Rp1, is intended to facilitate more efficient price discovery and increase transaction frequency. While experts suggest the move may improve long-term market mechanisms, they noted it could also introduce short-term volatility and selling pressure for certain stocks.
