Indonesian higher education internationalization and growth
Overview
Indonesian higher education institutions continue to report advancements in academic accreditation, international research, and student mobility.
UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s Development Economics Study Program received ‘unggul’ (excellent) accreditation from Lamemba, adding to its existing ‘A’ accreditation from BAN-PT and international accreditation from ACQUIN. Additionally, a student from i3L University, Bianca Haidi, received international recognition for research conducted in China, Japan, and Germany, earning the title of 2026 Top Scholar at her institution.
Growth and global engagement remain central themes. IKes Rajawali welcomed 1,400 new students for the 2026/2027 academic year. During the New Student Campus Life Introduction (PKKMB) held from September 17-19, 2026, Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tonika Tohri emphasized that health students must combine academic competence with social sensitivity to address community issues. President University has also expanded its internationalization efforts, facilitating student mobility between 2025 and 2026 by sending hundreds of students abroad and receiving students from over 20 countries.
Further developments in academic cooperation and certification include Institut Asyifa Indonesia (IASI) announcing plans to strengthen partnerships with local governments in Banten, West Java, and Yogyakarta to improve education quality and student employment opportunities. Meanwhile, UIN Antasari expanded its Professional Certification Institute (LSP) capabilities by recommending 45 new assessors, bringing its total to 69. UIN Antasari also concluded the Borneo International Academic Forum (BIAF) and noted that face-to-face classes at Campus 2 Banjarbaru are expected to resume after September 24 following adjustments due to local land fires.
