Indonesian immigration authorities have continued enforcement actions involving the deportation of foreign nationals for regulatory violations. In mid-August 2026, authorities deported a Malaysian female in Parepare for overstaying her permit by 101 days. Concurrently, in Madiun, East Java, a Chinese national was deported after his temporary stay permit expired and he reportedly began working illegally as a chef. Later in the month, the Atambua Immigration Office in East Nusa Tenggara deported five Chinese nationals apprehended at Atapupu Port who were suspected of attempting to use Indonesia as a transit route for illegal travel to Australia. In early September, the Cirebon Immigration Office deported an Australian citizen for overstaying a Visa on Arrival (VoA) by 62 days, and the Denpasar Immigration Office deported a Chinese national for abusing a VoA to work as a project supervisor. On September 8, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office deported an Australian national, Billy Aspinall, following reports of indecent behavior in North Kuta. On September 18, a joint operation involving the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and Bali Regional Police resulted in the detention of 13 foreign nationals—12 women and one man—suspected of involvement in prostitution activities in the Badung Regency. On September 22, authorities in Bali detained a 67-year-old Dutch woman, identified as FMMM, suspected of violating Article 75(1) of the Immigration Law after allegedly causing disturbances. On September 24, a joint operation in Canggu involving the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, the National Narcotics Agency, military police, and local police led to the detention of four foreign nationals. Three men—an Egyptian national and two Russians—are suspected of misusing stay permits to work as DJs at a nightclub. A Nigerian woman was also detained for overstaying her visa by 402 days.
