Indonesian police leadership transitions

Overview

Leadership transitions have occurred within the Indonesian police force at both the regional and national levels.

In Luwu Utara, a ceremony was held to mark the transition of the local Police Chief (Kapolres) from AKBP Nugraha Pamungkas to AKBP Aryo Putranto. The event was attended by regional leadership elements, including the Chairman of the Luwu Utara Regional House of Representatives, who emphasized the importance of unity in maintaining regional peace.

At the national level, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Suyudi Ario Seto as the new Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), succeeding Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The appointment followed approval from the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) during its 8th Plenary Meeting, where Suyudi was accepted by acclamation after a fit and proper test by Commission III. Suyudi, a 1994 Academy of Police graduate and former Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN), becomes the 26th individual to hold the position. He has committed to the ‘Polisi Bersama Masyarakat’ program, which aims to bring the police closer to the public through improved service, transparency, and rapid response.

Alongside Suyudi, Wahyu Hadiningrat was inaugurated as the Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri), taking over the position previously held by Dedi Prasetyo. Following this transition, Listyo Sigit Prabowo was appointed as the Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), succeeding Dudung Abdurachman. In recognition of his service, President Prabowo awarded Listyo Sigit Prabowo the Bintang Mahaputera Adipurna honor. Other strategic shifts include the naming of Dedi Prasetyo as the Head of the National Agrarian Reform Agency (BRAN). The leadership change has received support from various entities, including the PDI Perjuangan party and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which expressed hope for strengthened synergy in fighting corruption.
