Indonesian social and community recognition awards

In late October 2026, various Indonesian organizations and government bodies held ceremonies to recognize contributions to society, leadership, and community development.

Several organizations finalized their 2026 award recipients. The National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) established awards under the theme ‘National Youth Movement Moves, Indonesia Impacts’ to honor leadership and integrity. The Persatuan Inteligensia Kristen Indonesia (PIKI) held its inaugural PIKI Awards on October 25, covering eight categories including tolerance, environment, and anti-corruption. Notable recipients included Abidin Wakano for tolerance and Carina Citra Dewi Joe for vaccine technology research. Additionally, the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Expert Board evaluated candidates in categories such as health technology innovation and regional culture preservation, with winners expected to be announced in November.

Concurrently, the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment held the Mandaya Awards and Innovilleague Awards in Jakarta. These honors focused on poverty alleviation and community empowerment, with organizations like Dompet Dhuafa receiving recognition for economic independence and health programs. Four ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People's Schools) were also honored for excellence in education. The Gorontalo Provincial Government was recognized as the best province in reducing poverty, supported by BPS data showing a local poverty rate of 12.16 percent. Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar noted that under President Prabowo Subianto, the national strategy is shifting from a social assistance model toward a focus on replicable community empowerment models, noting that extreme poverty has dropped from 2.8 million to 1.7 million people.
