Following the August 2026 formalization of the national zakat and sharia cooperative ecosystem, Baznas has continued to expand its social welfare and educational initiatives. In West Jakarta, the Baznas Bazis branch reported that between January and August 2026, it renovated 58 homes as part of a larger annual target to improve 110 residential units. These renovations, which utilize a budget of approximately Rp55 million per unit, focus on small-scale structures adapted to local land conditions. On September 10, 2026, Baznas entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) to strengthen the zakat ecosystem and expand access to higher education. This collaboration targets individuals not covered by existing government programs like the Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) or the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP). The agreement encompasses ZIS-DSKL management, literacy, and data synchronization, alongside community empowerment efforts such as involving students in service programs for small businesses. A central component of this partnership is the launch of the ‘Beasiswa Cendekia Baznas’, which provides scholarships for underprivileged domestic students and a dedicated program for Palestinian students to support those affected by humanitarian crises. By mid-September 2026, the Beasiswa Cendekia Baznas (BCB) Domestic program opened applications for active fifth-semester students in Diploma 4 (D4) and Bachelor (S1) programs. Priority is given to STEM and SHARE (Social, Humanities, Art for People, Religious Studies, Economics) fields. Benefits include tuition subsidies between Rp4,000,000 and Rp7,000,000 per semester, research funding, and mentorship. Registration for this cycle runs from September 9 to September 27, 2026.
