Overview
Former West Bengal Minister Indranil Sen is under investigation for an alleged financial scam involving the fraudulent sale of VIP preview passes for Durga Puja pandals. The scheme reportedly involved an organization named ‘massArt’ which used the UNESCO name and logo to falsely claim official partnership status to solicit funds. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) estimates the fraudulent transactions may be worth between 50 and 60 crore rupees.
Initially, Sen sought anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court after the Calcutta High Court rejected his previous application. However, he was subsequently arrested by the Kolkata Police Detective Department while leaving the ED office at the Salt Lake CGO Complex.
