Authorities in Tarragona have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of the bone remains of an 18-month-old child, Nizan, inside a residence in Santa Bárbara. The discovery was prompted by a disappearance report filed by the child’s paternal grandfather, who stated his daughter-in-law had confessed to killing and burying the infant in a cardboard box within the home. National Police arrested the child’s parents, aged 29 identified as 35-year-old Jesús A. R. and 35, 29-year-old Cristina S. C., at the Valencia North Station under a judicial warrant from a court in Amposta. The parents, originally from Castellón, had been residing in Santa Bárbara since 2019. During the search of the property, investigators also uncovered a severe animal welfare crisis, finding 28 malnourished dogs and several dead animals.
