In Huancayo, an old mansion in a Monumental Zone collapsed following demolition work on an adjacent property. The incident, reportedly caused by an excavator, impacted several local businesses. Due to the site’s protected status, municipal authorities are restricted from clearing debris without permission from the Decentralized Culture Directorate.

In Cusco, the Comptroller General of Peru reported structural deterioration at Machu Picchu caused by visitor overcrowding during 2024 and 2025. An estimated 91,836 visitors exceeded permitted capacity, resulting in the erosion of original floors and damage to pre-Hispanic terraces. Officials are investigating potential administrative failures regarding the digital ticketing platform.

Meanwhile, in Chilca, the District Municipality is evacuating its main building due to significant cracks and fissures exacerbated by recent seismic activity. The municipality is restricting public access and planning a full relocation to rented premises.
