Infrastructure damage at Kuching International Airport

Overview

A ceiling collapse occurred at Kuching International Airport (KIA) in the inner lane of the pick-up and drop-off area following severe storms in the Kuching region. Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) reported that while the area was secured for repairs, airport operations and flight schedules were not affected by the incident.

The storm also caused broader structural damage in the region, including torn roofing sheets from an apartment block in Tabuan Dayak and damage to nearby homes. Heavy rain and strong winds resulted in fallen trees in the Kuching and Samarahan divisions, necessitating deployment from the Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station to clear obstructions on Jalan Stutong.
