Infrastructure development in Haryana and Delhi

Infrastructure development initiatives are underway in Haryana and Delhi to improve utility networks and civic amenities.

In Haryana, the state government has allocated ₹1,000 crore to overhaul aging water supply networks. The plan involves replacing 466 old brick-built water works with reinforced cement concrete structures to prevent groundwater seepage and mitigate rising fluoride and total dissolved solids levels. The initiative also seeks to transition from tubewell-fed schemes to canal-based supply.

In Delhi, large-scale projects are targeting both water and transport infrastructure. A ₹2,500 crore water improvement project, supported by the Asian Development Bank, aims to rehabilitate distribution networks and establish District Metered Areas to reduce non-revenue water. Simultaneously, the ‘Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan’ has commenced road and drainage construction in areas such as Rohini and Khera Garhi. Additionally, a ₹125 crore project is set to revamp the Burari Road corridor, which includes both road construction and a ₹75 crore drainage network to address waterlogging.
