Integration of RLUSD and XRP Ledger in financial services
Overview
Financial institutions are increasingly integrating the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and the RLUSD stablecoin into their settlement infrastructures.
Ripple partnered with brokerage platform DriveWealth to utilize RLUSD for cross-border payments, cryptocurrency custody, and prime brokerage services. This collaboration, which focuses on modernizing money movement through near real-time conversion of stablecoins to cash, is slated to begin in Europe.
Cross River Bank has integrated RLUSD and the XRPL into its proprietary Core Operating System (COS). This integration allows fintech companies to access stablecoin settlement via a single API, enabling transactions that settle within three to five seconds. The bank’s system facilitates movement between USD and the 1:1 dollar-backed RLUSD without requiring users to manage complex blockchain infrastructure. Adam Goller, Head of Fintech Banking at Cross River, stated that the partnership is intended to ‘eliminate complexity and make payments simpler’ by providing a regulated banking workflow for stablecoin use alongside traditional methods like ACH and wire transfers.
Expanding this ecosystem, Swiss-regulated capital provider Arf has partnered with Ripple to supply settlement liquidity on the XRPL using RLUSD. This collaboration aims to assist licensed cross-border payment companies by providing short-term working capital, typically for windows of one to five days, to help bridge pre-funding gaps. Under the agreement, capital is delivered in RLUSD directly on the XRPL, while XRP is used to cover transaction fees and reserves. The rollout will initially focus on licensed institutions managing remittances, card payments, and international transfers, with future plans to integrate XRPL’s native lending features.
