International dismantling of Dubai Bank network

Overview

Spanish police, with support from Europol and Interpol, dismantled an international money laundering network referred to as the ‘Dubai Bank’. The organization facilitated financial services for high-level cocaine traffickers using cryptocurrency and other clandestine methods outside the official banking system.

The operation resulted in 21 arrests across several countries, with 14 occurring in Spain. Authorities identified 20 million euros in assets, including real estate, luxury vehicles, and bank accounts. This investigation was linked to the 2021 seizure of the vessel ‘Nehir’, which was transporting nearly 2 tons of cocaine. In a related action in Seville, authorities also intercepted 1,238 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a shipment of coconuts, leading to two arrests.
