International media forum on Islamic civilization in Uzebkiz

Overview

Uzbekistan hosted an international media forum titled ‘Islamic Civilization: A New Perspective — New Discoveries’ in Tashkent and Samarkand to mark the 35th anniversary of the nation’s independence. The event gathered approximately 300 media professionals, academics, and experts from roughly 46 to 50 countries.

Discussions centered on using modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, digital storytelling, and immersive tools, to present the scientific and cultural legacy of Islamic civilization to a global audience. Specific topics included using AI to interpret ancient manuscripts, protecting historical artifacts, and countering disinformation.

Participants, including representatives from Central Asian nations, addressed the underrepresentation of Silk Road history in Western media. The forum aimed to increase the international visibility of Uzbekistan’s heritage through collaborations with global outlets like the BBC and Euronews, resulting in nearly 20 memorandums of understanding and documents intended to foster international cooperation.
