International motorsport and sailing championships

The 2026 International Rally Cup season concluded in Italy at the Rally delle Colline Metallifere and Pomarance. Simone Campedelli won the overall championship driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, while Gianandrea Pisani claimed the IRC Challenge title. Other category winners included Nicolò Ardizzone in the Pirelli Star 2RM asphalt series, Harshana Ratnayake in Rally5, Giacomo Guglielmini for the 4RM trophy, and Alessio D’Alessandro for the Sport series. During the finale, Campedelli reported finding nails in his tire on social media, raising questions about competition integrity.

In subsequent sporting events, Italian athletes saw success in both sailing and motorsport. The crew of “Mela,” helmed by Andrea Rossi, won the RS21 World Championship in Cannes, France, after a nine-race series. In rallying, Porto Cervo Racing placed third in the team standings at the Rally dei Nuraghi e del Vermentino and topped the Coppa Rally di Zona standings. This achievement qualified three crews, including Auro Siddi and Marco Corda, Mirco Lorrai and Eleonora Murgia, and Pietro Lilliu and Silvia Piras, for the National Final of the Coppa Italia Rally in Lucca.
