International queer-themed film festival programming

Overview

In late 2026, several international film festivals announced lineups featuring queer narratives and diverse themes.

The 18th annual QDoc Film Festival in Portland, scheduled for October 23-25, focuses exclusively on queer documentaries. The lineup includes the documentary ‘Rapinoe’ and ‘Jaripeo’, which explores queerness in rural Mexican rodeo culture.

Additionally, the 62nd Chicago International Film Festival has expanded its OutLook program to include various queer genres, honoring figures such as Ira Sachs and Cheryl Dunye. Meanwhile, the 14th QCinema International Film Festival, themed ‘Genre’teurs’, will run from November 13 to 22, featuring works such as the animated fantasy-horror film ‘Ella Arcangel: Ballad of Tooth and Claw’.
