Investigations into Colombian public officials
Overview
Colombian authorities have initiated multiple investigations into various public officials regarding allegations of corruption and administrative misconduct.
Senator Agmeth Escaf of the Pacto Histórico announced plans to file criminal charges for libel and slander following accusations from former advisor Eva Ferrer. Escaf denied all claims linking him to drug trafficking, corruption, or arms smuggling, describing them as personal vendettas.
In a separate development, the Attorney General's Office announced it will summon former directors of the Administrative Department of the Presidency, Angie Rodríguez and Laura Sarabia, for questioning. The inquiry focuses on alleged irregularities in hiring practices during the administration of former President Gustavo Petro, specifically involving allegations of sexual favors in exchange for employment.
Additionally, the Inspector General's Office filed charges against Vanessa Paredes Zúñiga, the current director of the Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management of Antioquia. The charges relate to her previous role at Corpourabá, where she is accused of administrative omissions concerning the handling of seized timber and public assets.
