Radosław Piesiewicz, President of the Polish Olympic Committee and former head of the Polish Basketball Association (PZKosz), is the subject of multiple investigations and controversies regarding financial impropriety. In August 2025, authorities conducted coordinated searches at over ten locations, including the offices of PZKosz and the Polish Olympic Committee. This action followed a probe opened by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk into an alleged VAT fraud scheme. Investigators suspect that companies linked to PZKosz issued fictitious invoices to funnel more than 9 million PLN into Piesiewicz’s private expenses during his 2018–2024 tenure. Further scrutiny emerged regarding a luxury Patek Philippe Calatrava watch valued at 40,000 euros. Reports suggest the timepiece was purchased by Przemysław Kral, head of Zondacrypto, in November 2025, shortly before a meeting between Kral and Piesiewicz in Monaco. While Piesiewicz maintains he purchased the watch with his own funds via cash installments, journalists have noted a lack of receipts or contracts to verify the transaction. In August 2026, the ~~situation escalated when~~ investigation expanded as the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime detained Piesiewicz in Warsaw. Piesiewicz has denied these allegations. Meanwhile, officials from UOKiK and the office of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki have denied involvement.
