IPB University agricultural technology initiatives in Merauけ

Overview

The IPB University Patriot Expedition Team has implemented various technological initiatives in Merauke, South Papua, to strengthen local human resources and agricultural development.

Initially, the team collaborated with the 801/Nduka Adyatama Yudha Infantry Battalion to provide training for teachers and students at SMK Negeri 4 Kehutanan dan Perkebunan Merauke. This program focused on modern agricultural tools, including drone mapping, cultivation and harvesting machinery, drone sprayers, and Automatic Weather Stations (AWS).

Following this, the team expanded its efforts to the Kurik District, working with village governments in Candra Jaya and Wonorejo to implement a digital paddy field platform. Between August and November 2026, the initiative focused on utilizing spatial and digital data to create village profiles and digitalize rice field areas. Local officials indicated that this platform provides more precise data to assist in planning food security programs and government assistance.
