Iraklis FC management and coach dispute

Following a 0-0 draw against Aris, Iraklis FC head coach Walter Mazzarri publicly criticized the club’s management and technical director. Mazzarri expressed frustration over squad planning, stating that the club signed players he did not request and ignored his interest in specific players, such as Okaka. He noted the logistical difficulties of managing a 30-man roster where multiple players occupy the same position.

Despite rumors of his departure and reports that the club was seeking a replacement in Edi Iordănescu, Iraklis FC denied these claims and stated they were satisfied with Mazzarri’s work.

On September 20, club owner Panagiotis Monemvasiotis met with Mazzarri to resolve the tensions. Monemvasiotis defended the club’s strategy, explaining that a larger roster was necessary to mitigate the risk of immediate relegation following their promotion from the second division. He emphasized that the club aims to provide the coach with the necessary tools to succeed and expressed full confidence in Mazzarri’s abilities.

Both parties reached an agreement to continue their partnership, aiming to focus on the team’s athletic performance during the upcoming league break. Additionally, Monemvasiotis noted that the team plans to return to playing home matches at the Kaftanzoglio Stadium once official certifications are completed.
