Overview

In early July, the Ilam Province Martyrs Foundation began preparing facilities to assist families of martyrs participating in Iran's Arbaeen pilgrimage. By the end of the month, the foundation had expanded its efforts, deploying “Salam Shahid” caravans in Ilam and arranging about 30 caravans along the Sanandaj–Marivan route in Kurdistan Province. These caravans provided 24‑hour hospitality, medical aid, cultural programs, wheelchair repairs, free accommodation, meals, transport, communication services, currency exchange, and coordinated with Iraqi Kurdistan to ensure free onward travel for pilgrims crossing at Bashmaq.

The initiatives aimed to ease the journey for thousands of pilgrims using the Bashmaq crossing, offering comprehensive logistical and spiritual support throughout the pilgrimage period.
