Israeli demolitions in Masafer Yatta

Overview

In September 2026, the Masafer Yatta region in the southern West Bank experienced a series of Israeli military demolitions targeting Palestinian communities. Early in the month, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of a new wave of displacement after authorities demolished 20 homes and various supporting structures, such as water tanks and solar panels, in two pastoralist communities. This incident affected approximately 60 residents, including 30 children.

By late September, the scale of destruction expanded in the village of Cinba. Reports indicated that the military demolished more than 24 homes and 17 sheds, alongside essential infrastructure including water wells, storage facilities, and solar energy panels. Nidal Yunus, head of the Masafer Yatta Village Council, stated that these actions left more than 200 Palestinians displaced. Local residents have reported increasing restrictions on construction and denied access to basic services, claiming the activities are intended to force them from their lands.
