Israeli military operations in Quneitra, Syria

Overview

Israeli military operations in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria have escalated through late September and early October 2026. Initial reports from late September detailed an incursion into the town of Koudna involving more than 15 vehicles, house raids, and heavy artillery shelling that caused property damage and local panic.

By early October, military activity expanded into other rural areas such as el-Hanut and el-Hamidiyye. During these subsequent raids, Israeli tanks established checkpoints near civilian homes and destroyed agricultural irrigation equipment. Reports also indicated the detention of a local resident and instances of troops firing at civilians. In response to these developments, local inhabitants have criticized United Nations forces in the Golan Heights, describing them as ineffective in maintaining security.
