Israeli settler outpost establishment near Gaza
Overview
Members of the Nachala settler movement established an outpost named ‘Pioneers of Gaza’ (Halutzei Gaza) in the Simhoni Forest in southern Israel, overlooking northern Gaza. The encampment, located between the kibbutzim of Kfar Aza and Nahal Oz, consists of tents, caravans, and temporary structures.
Led by Daniella Weiss, the movement is using the site to pressure the Israeli government to authorize the relocation of the settlement into the northern buffer zone inside the Gaza Strip. Activists assert that the territory is an ‘inseparable part of the Land of Israel’ and intend to remain at the outpost until the government facilitates their move into the enclave.
In response to the establishment of the site, Israeli police and military monitored the area and declared it a closed military zone to prevent settlers from crossing the border fence into Gaza. Roads leading to the area were also closed.
