Franco Malosso, a 69-year-old entrepreneur, was sentenced to 28 months in prison for orchestrating a tourism scam in Arcugnano, near Vicenza, Italy. Malosso claimed to have discovered an ancient Roman amphitheater dating to 393 AD following a landslide, falsely linking the site to historical figures such as Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. He received a prison sentence of approximately two years and four months. The court has ordered the demolition of the unauthorized structures and the restoration of the hillside. Local authorities face significant costs for the demolition, estimated to reach up to €300,000, while the municipality of Arcugnano is seeking damages.
